Historical Restoration

Canadian architectural heritage is rich, diverse and spans several centuries. Nearly every city in Canada hosts unique, historical buildings. Churches, synagogues, houses, and educational buildings, as well as military and railroad stations, are some of the finest pieces of art we see everyday. These pieces have extreme architectural and historical value.

Unfortunately, many of these buildings were abused, abandoned, and neglected. Often they were cheaply renovated or altered in a way that has distorted their original architectural quality. The weather and use of unsuitable renovation materials have left a heavy toll on many of these buildings. Restoration requirements differ from one building to the next, and usually require special study and preparation. Every building represents a special challenge and unique opportunity.

The restoration mission can include one or more of the following:
  • Restoring the building to its original internal and external architectural shape
  • Preserving the façade and remodelling the interior of the building
  • Building compatible additional sections while restoring the original building
A complete restoration project consists of several elements, including historical and architectural study to understand the character and evolution of a specific building, in addition to its construction components and materials; a structural integrity study and rehabilitation plan that takes into consideration the impact of new needs, technology and alternative construction materials; architectural craftsmanship which often includes masonry, brick and plaster works, wood and metal parts and roofing system; and fine art work which covers the sculptures and paintings, mosaic, historical windows and ornamental artifacts.

Advancya Fine Builders is committed to work with the private and public sectors to preserve and restore the historical buildings to their original architectural quality.
